Fenton Cornerstone

For Immediate Release…
Stephen Auger + Associates Architects

Stephen Auger + Associates Architects (SA+A), Lake Orion, SA+A Architects has a sunny outlook in this partly cloudy economy working with the innovative and optimistic Fenton Downtown Development Authority. Stephen Auger + Associates Architects has been chosen by The City of Fenton DDA as the design team for their proposed $4M Cornerstone Development at Leroy Street and Silver Lake Road in downtown Fenton.

SA+A Architects is located in a community similar to Dibbleville, the historic area of downtown Fenton, and specializes in historic architectural renovations. “One of the greatest considerations with this project is preserving the sense of scale,” says Stephen Auger, President of SA+A Architects. “Dibbleviille was built with sixteen- to twenty-foot storefronts, and while this is a larger building, we feel it is important to maintain the original downtown rhythm.”

The 30,000 square foot, three-story development will include a mix of retail, dining, office and residential units. “The larger Cornerstone Building will be a single composition taking cues from traditional early 20th century architecture,” says Brad Klein, SA+A Project Manager, “To maintain the look and feel of Dibbleville, design features will break down the overall scale of the building and allow each storefront an opportunity to display its own personality and brand.” This building is to be the first of three the city would like to have built along the east side of North Leroy Street and will replace 19th century storefront buildings that were demolished during the 1970’s as part of a never completed “urban renewal” effort.

SA+A Architects is looking forward to the diverse design opportunities within this project. “We are excited to be working with a community with such a clear vision,” says Auger. “It’s obvious that the Fenton DDA, the city and the community share that vision for their future. We’re looking forward to playing a role in that future with the design of this building.”
